The AKA values an enriching, safe and dynamic learning environment for children. Our kindergartens are accessible, secular, non-discriminatory, and inclusive of the diversity of the children and whanau who attend.
We view children as capable, competent, life-long learners. Children are encouraged to make their own learning choices, problem solve, observe and explore at their own pace, with support from teachers, families/whanau and their peers. We value the importance of child initiated, play based experiences.
As an organisation, we acknowledge the dual heritage of Aotearoa/New Zealand, and uphold the spirit and intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We value ongoing partnerships between families/whanau, teaching teams and management.
The AKA values the ongoing learning of teachers, parents and whanau. We believe the sharing of knowledge, skills and attributes is fundamental to achieving the best learning outcomes for children. Our commitment to collegial professional time ensures that quality practice is enhanced and that teaching teams have shared understandings. Teacher practice is reflective of current theories of learning and development.
